Do you need help saving an image as your desktop wallpaper?

Would you like instructions for an Internet Explorer browser, Netscape browser or a Mac user?

Photo Screensavers: While JCPenney Portraits does not offer a custom screensaver, there are many free trial screensavers available on the Internet. Visit www.download.com and complete a search on "photo screensaver" for a listing of various custom screensaver applications. As with anything on the Internet, before downloading make sure you know what you are downloading and research to ensure the company is reputable.


PC Users

Internet Explorer (IE)

  1. From the "Download Images" page, right click on the image you'd like to use and select "Set as Background" (depending on your version of IE, exact wording may vary).
  2. To adjust the settings of your desktop wallpaper, click on the Start button (lower-left corner of your screen). Go to the Settings section and select the Control Panel. Double-click on Display.
  3. Under the Background tab (see below), you can select to have the image centered on the screen, tiled across the screen or stretched to fit the screen.
  4. Under the Appearance tab, you can select the color of the background.
  5. Once you are done adjusting the settings, click the OK button and your changes will be applied to your current desktop wallpaper.
  6. If you own a graphics program and you are familiar with creating your own graphics, you can create your own desktop wallpaper image using all the images in your sitting. Because of the number of different graphics programs, we can not supply directions on how to create your own custom desktop wallpaper. To set an image that you have created as the desktop wallpaper, from the Display Control Panel, in the Background tab, click the Browse button and locate the custom image you have saved to your hard drive.

Netscape 6.0

  1. From the "Download Images" page, right click on the image you'd like to use and select "Save As" (depending on your version of Netscape, exact wording may vary). Note where on your hard drive you saved the file.
  2. To set the image as your desktop wallpaper, click on the Start button (lower-left corner of your screen). Go to the Settings section and open the Control Panel. Double-click on Display. Under the Background tab (see above), click on Browse and locate the image you just saved.
  3. Under the Background tab, you can also select to have the image centered on the screen, tiled across the screen or stretched to fit the screen.
  4. Under the Appearance tab, you can select the color of the background.
  5. Once you are done adjusting the settings, click the OK button and your changes will be applied to your current desktop wallpaper.

Mac Users

Saving Images

  1. To download a picture:
  2. From the "Download Images" page, control-click on the image you would like to use.
  3. In the menu that pops up, choose "Download Image to Disk" or similar option. Note where the images is located.

Mac OS X

  1. In Apple Menu, select System Preferences.
  2. Click on Desktop.
  3. Drag the file you downloaded into the image "well".

You can also make a screensaver from a folder of pictures.

  1. Save the images from your sitting into a new folder on your hard drive.
  2. Go to Apple Menu -> System Preferences -> Screen Saver. Click on Slide Show.
  3. Click on Configure, and navigate to the folder of images. Click on Test to see the slide show.

Mac OS 8.5 to 9.2:

  1. Go to Control Panels -> Appearance.
  2. Click on the Desktop tab.
  3. Click "Place Picture..." and navigate to the desired image.
  4. Click on "Set Desktop".
  5. Alternately, you can drag an image into the control panel. You can also drag a folder of images into the control panel, and each time you restart a new desktop picture will be randomly selected from that folder.

Mac OS 8.0 and 8.1

  1. Go to Control Panels -> Desktop Patterns.
  2. Click on "Desktop Pictures" in the list on the left.
  3. Set your desktop pictures by following the steps above.
